Access to Web Resources: The Requirements for courses taught by Brian L. Dos Santos
You will have to access the web very often; at least every other day. The web can be accessed from the campus labs on campus. However, you may find it inconvenient to travel to campus so often. Hence, it would be best to have access to the Web from another location. Access from home would be the best since many corporate sites block certain types of web access, including some types that will be necessary in this course. The hardware you will need to access course materials and take part
in other web-based activities are the following: - A minimum of a Pentium 120 computer running Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0, with 32 MB RAM (more is better), a good size hard drive (3 GB or larger), a 33K (preferably higher) modem and a sound card with speakers. A microphone would be helpful.
- Internet access through an Internet service provider. Internet access from home can be purchased from The University of Louisville for a small fee. More information can
be obtained from
UofL's site. If you do not wish to pay the fee, you can still obtain access to web resources on this campus (including all the resources that I provide) by signing up for the consolidated account service. Netscape 4.0 (or higher), or Internet Explorer 5.0 (or higher).
Special software that I have set up for you to download and install on your machines. If you need to download the latest Netscape or Internet Explorer, because your browser does not meet the above requirements, please do so before downloading and installing the special software needed for this course. |
