A team project is an extremely important component of this course. You will choose to work on one of the following types of projects: - Create a mock business Web site for a new, Web-based business.
-
Create a real business Web site for an existing business.
In either case, websites must be based upon a thorough business analysis. Details about the requirements for each of these two options will be provided in class. In both cases, the projects will be ones that lead to real or potential commercial value. In other words,
a well-executed project could or will create value. Your grade will depend upon the real or potential value of your project. Both project options in this course are real, in the sense that they generate or have the potential to generate commercial value. The projects must be real ones because learning is best accomplished in a real and not an artificial environment. These options will allow students with different backgrounds
and different career goals to choose a project that meets their needs. By the second class, each student will communicate their choice of a project to the instructor. As part of assignment #1, you are asked to provide relevant background information. The information you provide, together with your interest in one of the two types of projects, will be used to form project groups. Students will be expected to complete their projects
by moving up at least one level on the technical scales. Students with advanced skills will make special arrangements with the instructor to develop other complementary skills that will help them in their career. Additional information about these projects will be provided in class on an "as needed" basis. |
